Heaven's Rainbow by Peter Magliocco

An ocean riptide reveals
Heaven's rainbow

at Hermosa beach
pulled down from the sky

with variegated brilliance
it crashed its perfect arc

into the sea's dark grasp
illuminating green ripples

with a plethora of colors
until all the surfers there

gasped at the sudden fact
intruding with untoward

thievery of the overcast dawn
in heavenly brightness now

blinding their sun-glassed eyes
from a wave the sea painted.

Peter Magliocco writes from Las Vegas, where he's edited the lit-zine ART: MAG for over 25 years. His recent poetry book is Particle Acceleration on Judgement Day (Impspired Books) and he has a new sci-fi/horror novel, EYE OF ALIENA, via Amazon... He's been Pushcart Prize nominated a few times for both poetry and fiction.
