I Reach for My Favorite Mug by Chrystalen Stambaugh

Others have their safety blankets,

Childhood plushies, heirloom bracelets.

Random objects instilled with comfort.

But in times of great frustration,

I turn elsewhere,

consolation

Found in in cups of coffee.

Filling the kettle, heating it up

Grinding coffee, grabbing a mug

Each mundane step puts me at ease.

A nutty Brazilian, a fruity blend

Freshly bought beans that will send

Troubled thoughts away and clear my mind.

Chrystalen Stambaugh was born and raised in a small Eastern Kentucky town called Paintsville.
