buckeye creek by Mark A. Fisher

an old dirt road

shade trees grown tall

on either side of the

one lane bridge

over calm, still water

warm from the sun

vines crawling up

red dirt banks

as frogs waited

for night

to chorus their

thoughts

of another summer

and an insect hum

lingered

in the muggy air

redolent of

green growing things

oblivious to

the fading of

my memory
