Le Chambon in Winter by Sharon Jones

The Plateau is blanketed.
Pines, silent in the snow
at Advent, are witnesses
beneath the stars.
The humble glow
of candles sends hope
across a troubled globe,
held, still, in the hand of God.

Sharon Jones studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge University. She now lives and writes in County Antrim in Northern Ireland.
