One day I will be gone by Padmaja Battani

Yet,

Mornings in the kitchen

will be filled

with the aroma of freshly

brewed coffee

memorializing my presence

The birds whose names

I do not know

will be singing

the morning raaga

unaware of my absence

Raindrops will be drumming

on the rooftop

orchestrating to the tunes

of my favorite songs

The begonias I bought

at the local nursery

will bloom in orange and yellow

inviting hummingbirds to my garden
